On Thursday, May 9, Kiser Group hosted our annual Mid-Market Summit event. The exclusive event open only to Principals and Investors in multifamily real estate, featured two industry panels addressing current topics facing Chicago’s industry. This year’s discussion panels included a heated debate about rent control and affordable housing, and creative investing strategies from condo deconversions to opportunity zones.

Thank you very much to our premier sponsors, Xfinity Communities and Walker & Dunlop, for their support of the Mid-Market Summit. More than 250 guests enjoyed short presentations from these sponsors. David Lizak from Xfinity Communities shared how multifamily owners can incorporate smarter living and management strategies in their investments. Justin Nelson from Walker & Dunlop shared strategies for managing risk during the current stage of the economic cycle. During the panels and presentations, guests enjoyed dinner, sponsored by 3F Construction, and open bar, sponsored by Peak Properties.

Thank you to our panelists for their contributions and thought leadership.

If you missed the event, REjournals covered a near play-by-play of this panel.

Our second panel featured:

I enjoyed hearing the complexities of managing capital gains after buying property from foreign nationals from Andrew Goodman and how Florida’s condo deconversions are similar and different from the deals being done in Chicago. I also don’t think anyone will forget David Sherer’s story about finding a live, full-size horse in an apartment unit.

We look forward to seeing our clients at next year’s event. See you on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at City Winery.
